How do I buy or sell stocks through JMMB ?
* JMMB Ltd. has a subsidiary company called JMMB Securities Limited which is a member of the Jamaica Stock Exchange.
* Come into any of our branch offices and speak with a Client Relations Officer CRO to place your order.
* If you are new to JMMB, you will need a check or transfer funds from your existing JMMB Ltd. account to pay for your transaction.
* You will also need identification to establish your account with us.

Why is JMMB getting into the business of stocks ?
JMMB believes that stock investments can play an important role in helping investors diversify their portfolios and at the same time, help companies in the local financial markets grow stronger. A healthy financial market is characterized by a balanced reliance on both debt and equity. We believe that as the Jamaican financial market grows, equity investments will complement traditional debt investments and play an increasingly greater and more significant role than it has played historically.
Can I lose my money ?
Investing in debt or in equity involves risk. Generally, the greater the risk, the greater the return on the investments over time. Investors in equity can lose their investments if the price of their stocks falls. Stock investments may lose value and are not insured against such loss. For example, stock investments are not deposits and thus are not insured under the JDIC, Jamaica Deposit Insurance Corporation. JMMB Securities Ltd. however is covered by insurance to protect against fraud or malfeasance.
What is equity or stock investment ?
Equity investments and stock investments are synonyms for money invested in companies. When an investor puts money into a company, s/he becomes an owner of a portion (shares) of the company. Those shares represent a piece of the company and belong to the investor in return for a right to receive dividends from the company when the company directors choose to issue a dividend. Typically, investors either benefit from an increase in price (referred to as a capital gain) or from a dividend issued by the company to all share holders or from both.
